A Daily Schedule used to Call PSTN Outstations Twice a Day

This example shows how a Schedule can be used to send ‘One Shot’ calls to a series of PSTN outstations twice a day. The calls are used to retrieve data from the outstations (between ‘One Shots’, the outstations are configured to Dial In if an alarm is raised).

Example:

The PSTN outstations on a particular ClearSCADA system are to be contacted by the server twice a day, in order to update the ClearSCADA database with the latest data from those outstations.

A Daily Schedule is used to One Shot the outstations automatically.

The Schedule Form is used to specify the Schedule Type as Daily.

The required events are added to the Schedule Editor (in this case, the server is to call the outstations at 06:30 and 18:30 each day).

The Add Action window is then used to specify the One Shot method for the sets to which the outstations belong:

In this particular example, the server is scheduled to One Shot the outstations on two sets at the same time and as such, two actions are specified—one for each outstation set.

Once specified, the selected sets and their respective actions are listed at the bottom of the Schedule Editor:

The server is to call the outstations on a further two sets (for Zone C and Zone D) five minutes after the outstations in Zone A and Zone B. As the event times differ, a separate Daily Schedule is configured for Zone C and Zone D, with events at 06:35 and 18:35 respectively.
