Temporarily Increasing the Frequency with which an Outstation is Called

The Promote Dial Out pick action can be used to increase the rate of data retrieval from a PSTN outstation or group of PSTN outstations. This pick action is also available for direct outstations that have fallen back to using PSTN communications.

Such promotion might be required during times of critical operation procedures, for example during a storm or a flood, when rapidly changing river-level data needs to be retrieved at a more frequent rate than usual.

When a ClearSCADA system is first installed, a system administrator should specify the default interval and duration for Promoted Dial Outs. These settings are configured using the ClearSCADA Server Configuration Tool (see Define the Default Promoted Dial Out Settings).

In order for the Promote Dial Out pick action to be accessible, the Promote Dial Out feature has to be enabled on the outstation (see Define an Outstation’s PSTN Properties), or the outstation set (see Defining Communication Settings).

While a dial out is still promoted, an operator can manually return the outstation to its non-promoted state by using a Cancel Promoted Dial Out pick action. This pick action is available for both PSTN outstations, and direct outstations that have fallen back to using PSTN communications.
