Display an Ad Hoc Trend in Run Mode

‘Standard’ Ad Hoc Trends are Trends that are generated on demand. They are not stored as items in the database or as files. You can display an ad hoc Trend for any database point (you can also display historic ad hoc Trends for points that have historic logging enabled in their configuration).

Operator level users can access ‘standard’ ad hoc Trends and display them in Run mode. They can then use the navigation and other operator-level features to view and compare the data on the Trend.

To display a ‘standard’ ad hoc Trend in Run mode on a ViewX client:

  1. Log on to ViewX via a valid User account.
  2. Display the Database Bar (see Display an Explorer Bar).
  3. Expand the Database Bar tree structure until you can see the point or master station accumulator for which you want to display an ad hoc Trend.
  4. Right-click on the point or accumulator item.
A context sensitive menu is displayed.
  5. To display a Trend of the point or accumulator’s current data, select the Display Current Trend option.

To display a Trend of the point or accumulator’s historic data (if historic data is available), select the Display Historic Trend option.

The Display Historic Trend option is only available if historic logging is enabled in the configuration for the point or accumulator (for points, see Defining Historic Details for a Point; for accumulators, see Tabs on Accumulator Forms).

The Trend is displayed. If the Trend plots current data, it will show values from the time that the Trend was displayed.

Alternatively, display a suitable List on a ViewX or WebX Client. Right-click on the relevant point or accumulator entry on the List and select the Display Current Trend or the Display Historic Trend option.

You may also be able to display a ‘standard’ ad hoc Trend from a Mimic, if a suitably configured Mimic exists on your system. For example, by selecting a hyperlink on a Mimic, or by selecting an object that is configured to display a context-sensitive menu, from which the Display Current Trend or Display Historic Trend options can be selected.

If required, users with the relevant permissions can add ‘custom’ ad hoc Trends to ClearSCADA. You typically display a ‘custom’ ad hoc Trend by selecting a button or hyperlink on a Mimic.
