Specify the Serial Number of the Second Base Radio in a Hot-Standby Pair
This topic only applies to D Series radios. For other series of Trio radios, you configure a separate Trio Radio in the database for each of the two radios that together function as one base radio (see Retrieve Data from a Hot-Standby Radio).
With a network of D Series Trio radios, the setup might include a hot-standby radio (also known as a dual base radio). Unlike other supported series of Trio radios, Geo SCADA Expert only polls the radio unit that is considered to be the active radio unit in the hot-standby radio setup. As such, you only need to configure one Radio item in the database to represent both of the radio units in a D Series hot-standby radio.
If the radio you are configuring represents a D Series hot-standby radio, use the Second Unit Serial Number field on the Radio tab to specify the serial number of the second base radio in the hot-standby pair of radios that form the hot-standby radio. As one of the radio units will be offline while the other radio unit is active and responsive, Geo SCADA Expert will respond to either of the two serial numbers that are specified on the Radio tab (the Unit Serial Number, and the Second Unit Serial Number).
The field is only available for use when the Model options are set to 'D Series' and 'Base' on the Radio tab (see Specify the Model and Type of Radio Unit).
If you need to replace a D Series hot-standby radio with another radio unit, remember to update the Unit Serial Number or the Second Unit Serial Number(whichever is applicable) so that it matches that of the replacement radio.
