Configuring Digital Points
The IEC 60870-5 driver supports 1-, and 2-bit Digital Input points and Digital Output points.
Configure the properties of each digital point using the fields on the IEC 60870-5 Digital Input Point Form, or the IEC 60870-5 Digital Output Point Form, as appropriate. Each Form has several tabs.
For both IEC 60870-5 Digital Input Points and IEC 60870-5 Digital Output Points, use the Digital Point tab to:
- Configure the General Point Properties
- Configure the Point States (see Define the Point States for a Digital Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Override Properties (see Define whether a Digital Point can be Overridden in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Trend Properties (see Define a Digital Point’s Trend Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Logged Data Properties (see Processing Alarm Data for Point States in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers).
For IEC 60870-5 Digital Input Points, also use the Digital Point tab to:
- Specify how Geo SCADA Expert Interprets an Input Point’s Cause of Transmission
- Specify the Type of Point Data that Geo SCADA Expert is to Store Historically.
For IEC 60870-5 Digital Output Points, there are two additional tabs: a Control Tab and a Control Checks tab.
Use the Control tab to:
- Configure the control actions (see Define the Output Actions in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Specify whether any Outstations are given Scanning Priority whenever a Control Action is Issued (see Promoting Scanning of Outstations Associated with Controls in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Specify the Format in which to Transfer Control Data
- Specify the Default Control Action
- Configure the Common IEC 60870-5 Point Control Properties.
You can optionally use the Control Checks tab to configure the Control Checks settings (see Configuring Control Checks Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
For information on the properties on other tabs, see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.
