Configuring an IEC 60870-5 Phoenix PSTN Outstation
For each Phoenix outstation or similar Phoenix device with which you want Geo SCADA Expert to communicate using the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol, you need to configure an IEC 60870-5 Phoenix PSTN Outstation in the Geo SCADA Expert database.
You configure the properties of each outstation using the IEC 60870-5 Phoenix PSTN Outstation Form. The Form has several tabs.
Use the IEC 60870-5 tab to:
- Specify the IEC 60870-5 properties. These properties are common to many outstations that communicate with Geo SCADA Expert using the IEC 60870-5 protocol (see Configuring an IEC 60870-5 Outstation in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to the IEC 60870-5 Driver).
Each response packet from a Phoenix outstation contains only a single data value. This limits the outstation to reporting about four data values a second when connected via a standard modem. A general interrogation of an outstation that contains a moderate number of points will therefore take some time to complete. For this reason, we recommend that the Station and Group n Interrogation Intervals, and the Counter Interrogation Intervals are set to 0. This configures the outstation so that it is only interrogated at the start of communications and whenever a Refresh of the outstation’s data is requested.
Use the Phoenix tab to:
- Specify the Master and Outstation Passwords
- Specify the Operations that Geo SCADA Expert Performs when it Receives an Incoming Call.
Use the PSTN tab to:
- Specify the Common PSTN Properties (see Define an Outstation’s PSTN Properties in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers)
- Configure any Dial In Lines (see Define Dial In Line Properties on a PSTN Outstation in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers).
Phoenix outstations support up to three Dial In Lines to report alarm data to Geo SCADA Expert.
- Configure the Dial In Overactive Properties (see Define Dial In Overactive Properties on a PSTN Outstation in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers).
The fields on other tabs are common to outstations on many advanced drivers—see Tabs on Outstation Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.
