Check that Geo SCADA Expert Received Your Cell Phone Test Message
Perform this procedure after you Send an SMS Test Message from a Cell Phone to Geo SCADA Expert.
To check that Geo SCADA Expert has received the SMS test message that you sent from a cell phone:
- In the Database Bar, right-click on the SCADAPack 50 Test.Channel database item.
A context-sensitive menu is displayed.
- Select the Display Events menu option.
The Events List is displayed.
The Events List should show the details of your cell phone message (although Geo SCADA Expert will discard the message because it is in a test format).
There may be a delay between when you send an SMS message and when Geo SCADA Expert displays it in the Events List. This can be due to delays in the GSM network and the fact that the default modem poll interval in Geo SCADA Expert is 2 minutes. For more information, see SCADAPack 50 and SMS Messagingsee SCADAPack 50 and SMS Messaging
When you see the details of the cell phone message in the Events List you can proceed to Send an SMS Test Message from the SCADAPack 50 Device. If the Events List does not show the details of the cell phone message, do the following:
- Check the status of the channel and the status of its associated GSM modem (see Check the Channel Status). If you have made any changes, send the test message again.
- Verify that the telephone numbers that you have entered in Geo SCADA Expert (for the Geo SCADA Expert GSM modem and for your cell phone) are correct. Make any necessary changes to the Geo SCADA Expert configuration and send the test message again.
- Switch off the Geo SCADA Expert GSM modem and then switch it back on. Check the status of the channel again (see Check the Channel Status).
- Set additional channel properties (see Set Channel Properties (Advanced)). If you have made any changes, send the test message again.
- If the anomaly persists, contact Schneider Electric Support for further help.
