To use the Geo SCADA Expert database with your TBox RTUs, the devices are installed using the configuration software provided by the manufacturer. Geo SCADA Expert cannot remotely configure TBox RTUs.
You need to configure the Geo SCADA Expert database so that entries in the database correspond to the plant, measuring instruments, and control devices on your system. This section summarizes the database items that you need to configure to represent the TBox RTUs.
In order to represent TBox devices, the TBox Driver has to be installed and running on the Geo SCADA Expert servers on your system (see Installing the TBox Driver).
When you configure TBox items in the Geo SCADA Expert database, many of the settings for those items need to correspond to the settings of the relevant TBox devices on your system. Some settings are either fixed (included in the design of the TBox RTU), or are configured by an engineer. You need to have access to, or an understanding of, the settings of the TBox devices on your system before you can configure the corresponding database items successfully.
You should be aware of any optional features required for each TBox item. These features include:
- Alarm views
- Alarm redirections
- Historic data storage (Chronologies and Sampling Tables)
- User methods.
You can also use core Geo SCADA Expert features with TBox database items, including Lists, Actions, and Mimics. To represent TBox devices in Geo SCADA Expert, you need to configure:
- TBox Channels to represent the communication links between the TBox RTU and the Geo SCADA Expert server (see Configuring a TBox Channel)
- TBox Outstation Sets to define groups of TBox RTUs that use particular channels (see Configuring a TBox Outstation Set)
- TBox Outstations to define the TBox RTUs that monitor data and control plant (see Configuring a TBox Outstation)
- TBox Points to represent items of data that are received by the Geo SCADA Expert server from the TBox RTUs or sent by Geo SCADA Expert to the TBox RTUs (see Points Used on TBox Outstations).
