Configuration Basics
With Geo SCADA Expert, you can configure database items and displays while the system is online, meaning that you can create new items without affecting the running of your system. Many configuration tasks are undertaken in ViewX via a variety of user-friendly configuration displays, including configuration Forms and editors such as the Mimic editor.
So that you get a feel for how the configuration displays look and work, we are going to guide you through some basic configuration tasks. When you have completed these tasks, you will be ready to start working with 'live' I/O (inputs and outputs).
To familiarize yourself with the configuration process in ViewX, you should:
- Create a New Group
- Rename the 'Default' Mimic in your Group
- Add an Internal Analog Point
- Use Drag and Drop to Display the Point Data on a Mimic
- Put the Mimic into Run Mode
- Hand Control the Internal Analog Point
- Display a Historic Trend for the Internal Analog Point
- Change the Point Configuration to Trigger an Alarm
- View an Alarm
- Action an Alarm.
When you have completed the tasks in this section, you can Test Your Knowledge on Configuration Basics.
