Configuring DNP3 Counter Points
This section provides information about DNP3 ‘Generic’ counter points (see DNP3 Master Configuration). If your system is running a DNP3 Extension Driver, other types of DNP3 counter point might be available. For information about non-generic DNP3 counter points, see the relevant DNP3 extension driver guide.
A DNP3 Counter point is typically used to count pulses on a physical binary input, or used to accumulate internally calculated values.
A DNP3 Frozen Counter point provides a mechanism for taking a ‘snap-shot’ of the current value of a DNP3 Counter—the Frozen Counter continues to hold the same value, while the Counter continues to count.
Configure the properties of a Counter point using the fields on the DNP3 Counter Point Form.
Configure the properties of a Frozen Counter point using the fields on the DNP3 Frozen Counter Point Form.
This section covers configuration of properties that are on the Counter Point tab of the Counter Point Form, and the Frozen Counter tab of the Frozen Counter Point Form. The fields on the other tabs are common to many points—for information, see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.

Many of the figures within this section show fields on the Counter tab of the Counter Point Form. For a Frozen Counter point, these fields are displayed on the Frozen Counter tab.
