Configuring Analog Points
The IEC 60870-5 driver supports Analog Input points and Analog Output points.
Use IEC 60870-5 Analog Input points to map analog or counter data for use within Geo SCADA Expert. Use IEC 60870-5 Analog Output points to control analog values in an outstation.
If an outstation supports counter data, map that data to IEC 60870-5 Analog Point(s) in the Geo SCADA Expert database, in order to use that data within Geo SCADA Expert, (see Configure the Counter Interrogation Intervals).
Configure the properties of each analog point using the fields on the IEC 60870-5 Analog Input Point Form, or the IEC 60870-5 Analog Output Point Form, as appropriate. Each Form has several tabs.
For both IEC 60870-5 Analog Input Points and IEC 60870-5 Analog Output Points, use the Analog Point tab to:
- Configure Common IEC 60870-5 Point Properties
- Configure the Alarm Limits
- Configure any Alarm Limit Profiles (see Specify any Alarm Limit Profiles in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure Point Scaling
- Configure the Point Formatting (see Define the Appearance of an Analog Point’s Values in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Override Properties (see Define whether an Analog Point can be Overridden in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Significant Change Properties (see Define the Criteria for a Significant Change in Value in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the No Change Properties (see Detect whether an Analog Point has Stopped Changing in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Trend Properties (see Define an Analog Point’s Trend Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Configure the Logged Data Properties (see Processing Alarm Data for Point States in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers).
For IEC 60870-5 Analog Input Points also use the Analog Point tab to:
- Specify how Geo SCADA Expert Interprets an Input Point’s Cause of Transmission
- Specify the Type of Point Data that Geo SCADA Expert is to Store Historically.
For IEC 60870-5 Analog Output Points there are two additional tabs: a Control Tab and a Control Checks tab.
Use the Control tab to:
- Configure the Control Properties (see Define the Control Settings for an Analog Output Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Specify whether any Outstations are given Scanning Priority whenever a Control Action is Issued (see Promoting Scanning of Outstations Associated with Controls in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration)
- Specify the Format in which to Transfer Control Data
- Configure the Common IEC 60870-5 Point Control Properties.
You can optionally use the Control Checks tab to configure the Control Checks settings (see Configuring Control Checks Settings in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration).
For information on the properties on other tabs, see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.
