Points Used on OPX XML-DA Scanners
OPC XML-DA Scanners read and write to data on OPC XML-DA servers. You need to map the data on each OPC XML-DA server to suitable OPC XML-DA Points within the Geo SCADA Expert database, to enable Geo SCADA Expert to handle the data in a similar way to other point data on the system (for instance, in order to monitor state changes, raise alarms, or execute controls).
The OPC XML-DA Client driver can support any of the point types that are listed below. You need to configure those point types that present the OPC XML-DA node data in a suitable format within the Geo SCADA Expert database.
For information on creating a point and displaying a Point Form, see Configuring a Point in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
For information on configuring fields on the OPC XML-DA tab, see the rest of this section, which explains how to:
- Configure Common Point Properties on the OPC XML-DA Tab
- Retrieve Configuration Properties from an OPC Data Source.
For analog points, also see Configuring Analog Points.
For digital points, also see Configuring Digital Points.
For information on configuring fields on the <Point Type> tab, see the references below:
- Analog Point—see Defining Analog Point Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
- Digital Point—see Defining Digital Point Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
- String Point—see Defining String Point Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
- Time Point—see Defining Time Point Details in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
For each point, use the Enabled check box on the Control tab to specify whether a particular point is used as an Input point to retrieve data, or as an Output point to write data to an OPC XML-DA server. For information on the Control tab, see the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Core Point Configuration.
For fields on other tabs, see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Simple Drivers.
