Points Used on Sofrel Outstations
Sofrel outstations support a combination of these point types:
- Sofrel Analog Input Points—see Configuring Analog Points
- Sofrel Analog Output Points—see Configuring Analog Points
- Sofrel Counter Points—see Configuring Counter Points
- Sofrel Digital Input Points—see Configuring Digital Points
- Sofrel Digital Output Points—see Configuring Digital Points.
You need to configure one point of the appropriate type per point at an outstation. You configure the properties of each point using the appropriate Sofrel Point Form.
This section covers the configuration of properties that are common to many Sofrel points. It includes information on how to:
- Configure Common Point Properties
- Specify the Type of Point Data that Geo SCADA Expert is to Store Historically.
For Sofrel Analog Output Points and Sofrel Digital Output Points, it also explains how to:
Minimum Configuration
For each point, you need to specify the following features on the appropriately named <Point Type> tab, then put the point In Service and save the configuration:
- The outstation on which the point is located
- The Point number
- For digital points, the Bit Number and Number of Bits
- For Hardware analog and counter points, the Channel Number.
If the point is an output point, you need to:
- Enable and configure the required properties on the Control tab.
If you want point data to be stored historically, you also need to:
- Enable and configure logging on the Historic tab if data is to be stored historically in the server database.
These are the minimum requirements and, when configured, will result in a functional point that uses the default settings.
For general information on creating a point and displaying a Point Form, see Configuring a Point.
