Configure Analog Points for DNP3 Communications

The topics in this section document the properties on the Forms of SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Points. You only require such points if Geo SCADA Expert is to use the DNP3 protocol to communicate with a SCADAPack x70 device and is to perform either of the following:

Geo SCADA Expert uses the points to store protocol-specific information about how it processes the point data that it retrieves from, or sends to, the device.

For each item of analog data that Geo SCADA Expert is to retrieve from a SCADAPack x70 device using the DNP3 protocol, you need to create and configure a SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Input Point in the database.

For each item of analog data for which Geo SCADA Expert is to set the values on a SCADAPack x70 device using the DNP3 protocol, you need to create and configure a SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Output Point in the database.

You configure the properties of each Point using the fields on the SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Input Point or SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Output Point Form respectively. Each Form has several tabs, some of which contain properties that are common to many database items, and others that contain properties that are specific to Analog Points.

This topic provides information about the properties that are on the Analog Point and Control tabs.

Use the Analog Point tab to:

The Analog Point tab also includes two sections of properties for which the settings are purely inherited from the SCADAPack x70 Analog Configuration item with which the Analog Point is associated:

These properties are merely included on the tab for reference when configuring other properties on the Analog Point's Form. For information about the properties from which the settings are inherited, select the links above. (If you have not re-opened this configuration Form since using the Form's SCADAPack x70 Object field to associate this Point with the relevant Configuration item, you may need to refresh the Form in order for these fields to display their inherited values. Likewise, if the inherited values are changed on that Configuration item's Form while this Point Form remains open, you might also need to refresh this Form to display the updated inherited values. To do this, save the configuration changes.)

The Forms of SCADAPack x70 DNP3 Analog Output Points also include a Control tab.

Use the Control tab to:

The properties on the remaining tabs are common to points on many drivers. For information about those tabs, see Tabs on Point Forms in the Geo SCADA Expert Guide to Advanced Drivers.
