SCADAPack x70

Configure an Object Browser

The topics in this section document the properties on the Form of a SCADAPack x70 Object Browser. The Geo SCADA Expert database should contain one SCADAPack x70 Object Browser database item per Object Browser on a SCADAPack x70 device.

Object Browsers enable RemoteConnect to read and write object or system data values to a SCADAPack x70 device when RemoteConnnect is online.

When you import a configuration file from RemoteConnect, or upload configuration from a SCADAPack x70 device, checks are made to ensure that the configuration in the Geo SCADA Expert database matches that of the imported or uploaded configuration. This includes creating any missing database items that do not exist in the Geo SCADA Expert database, but do exist in the imported or uploaded configuration. If applicable, this includes the creation of a SCADAPack x70 Object Browser database item in the Geo SCADA Expert database per Object Browser that exists in the imported or uploaded configuration.

You can only use RemoteConnect to modify the entries in each Object Browser (you cannot do this in Geo SCADA Expert). As such, you might want to consider importing or uploading the configuration into Geo SCADA Expert, rather than creating blank Object Browser items in the database. This way, the database items will get created automatically, as part of the upload/import process, and will be populated with the relevant configuration. You can view the entries in Geo SCADA Expert by viewing the Object Browser's Status display (see Status Attributes that are Specific to SCADAPack x70 Object Browsers).

However, if your system uses Geo SCADA Expert's Group Templates and Group Instances feature, you might want to create initial 'blank' Object Browser items in order to create all of the database items that you require in the Group Template(s) before uploading or importing the configuration into the Group Instances that reference the Group Templates.

You can add a maximum of 50 Object Browsers to a SCADAPack x70 device.

Object Browsers only exist in the Geo SCADA Expert database and the SCADAPack x70 device, so that they can be read back into RemoteConnect by exporting the configuration to RemoteConnect or downloading the configuration to the SCADAPack x70 device.

The configuration Form of an Object Browser database item includes a Browser tab. You use the tab to:

The properties on the remaining tabs are common to many database items. For information about those tabs, see Tabs on the Forms of Configuration Items.

After the configuration file is imported from RemoteConnect or the configuration is uploaded from the SCADAPack x70 device, you can view the number of Object Browsers from the Status display of the SCADAPack x70 Device Configuration item (see Number of Object Browsers).

You can view the list of entries in the Object Browser from the Status display of that SCADAPack x70 Object Browser (see n <Object Name>).

If you rename a SCADAPack x70 object name or remove an object from the SCADAPack x70 device in an Object Browser, that object is omitted from the configuration during an export or download.
