SCADAPack 50 Quick Start Tutorial
This tutorial assumes that you have a working knowledge of Geo SCADA Expert. The tutorial helps you to create a working configuration of:
- A single SCADAPack 50 device
- Various SCADAPack 50 driver database items.
Once you have completed the configuration, you can then test the communication link between Geo SCADA Expert and the device.
The SCADAPack 50 device documentation also refers to the device as an outstation, a wireless telemetry local unit or a remote terminal unit. Geo SCADA Expert represents the device as an outstation database item.
Before you begin, you need:
- A SCADAPack 50 device running SCADAPack 50 firmware version 0651
- Access to a Geo SCADA Expert master station with the SCADAPack 50 driver installed and licensed
- A PC running Microsoft® Windows®
- Kervisu software with the Kervisu configuration file for the SCADAPack 50 device. For more information, see your Schneider Electric vendor. You use Kervisu to configure the device. You should install Kervisu on your PC
- A Hayes-compliant GSM modem connected to the Geo SCADA Expert master station
- Activated SIM cards with SMS capability for each GSM modem, both at the Geo SCADA Expert master station and at the SCADAPack 50 device
- A USB/IrDA infrared interface supplied by your Schneider Electric vendor. You should install the drivers for this interface on your PC. The infrared interface connects Kervisu on your PC to the device.
For information about installing and commissioning the device, and connecting Kervisu to the device, see the device documentation.
NOTE:Kervisu only recognizes COM1 to COM4 as valid COM ports for the USB infrared device interface. When you connect the USB infrared device to your computer's USB port, your computer may allocate a COM port that is higher than COM4. If this is the case, you need to change the port assignment in the Windows Device Manager to a port in the range COM1 to COM4. For more information about assigning ports, see the user manual for your computer's operating system.
Follow these steps to configure the device with Kervisu:
- Set the SCADAPack 50 Device Clock and Configure the Device Global Parameters.
- Configure a Test SCADAPack 50 Device Point.
- Configure the SCADAPack 50 Device SMS Message Encoding.
Follow these steps to configure the Geo SCADA Expert database items:
